Grothouse has had the honor of crafting a kitchen island countertop for the This Old House® renovation of an 1872 Italianate in the historic Boston suburb of Arlington.

Kitchen Island Countertop Details 

The kitchen island countertop is 300 pounds and 11 feet long. It is crafted of Burmese Teak wood in Flat Grain Construction. The countertop is sealed with our Durata® Finish in Satin sheen; a maintenance-free, waterproof finish only available on Grothouse wood surfaces. The countertop includes an Apron Sink Cutout for a Kohler sink (Model K6487). The countertop has a 1/8″ Roundover Edge Profile on all of the top horizontal edges. The vertical corners and the bottom horizontal edges are square.

Episode Details

The island countertop can be seen on Episode 3324 (Season 33, Episode 24) of This Old House® called “Decorative Details.”

In this episode Norm Abram finds Paul Grothouse at the house ready to install the stunning countertop and sink.
